Danny DeVito Deserves the Golden Globe Lifetime Achievement Award

The Cecil B. DeMille Award is an annual honorary award given to an actor/producer/director who has made "outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment". This can be for work in television, film or both.

Recent winners include: Jeff Bridges, Oprah Winfrey, Meryl Streep, Denzel Washington and George Clooney

But how does Danny DeVito fit in with that crowd? By being successful in television AND movies for 40 fucking years.

    Resume

    Top Movies as Actor:

    • LA Confidential
    • Ruthless People
    • Matilda
    • Romancing the Stone
    • Get Shorty

    • The Rainmaker
    • The War of the Roses
    • Batman Returns
    • Tin Men
    • Big Fish
    • Junior/Twins
    • -a lot of other really fun/dumb/classic movies-

    Accolades:

    Emmy Awards:

    • Taxi 1981 (won)
    • Taxi 1983 (nom)
    • Friends 2004 (nom)
    • IASIP (at some fucking point already)

    Golden Globe

    • Taxi 1979 (nom)
    • Taxi 1980 (won)
    • Taxi 1981 (nom
    • Ruthless People 1987 (nom)
    • Throw Momma from the Train 1988 (nom)

While a lot of his acclaim came earlier on his career, he's been quietly doing incredible comedic work on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia for almost 15 years as a 74 year old 4'10" man.

During that time period he also appeared in The Lorax, Wiener-Dog, Dumbo and the upcoming Jumanji sequel.

When you look at the body of his work through drama and comedy it's a pretty incredible career, and one that keeps going strong.

He's also well regarded as one of the nicest people in Hollywood and the stuff he did for Mara Wilson (Matilda) is really nice to hear vs all the insanely horrible stuff you hear about with child actors.

Anyway, I think Danny DeVito has the resume and accolades to earn him the lifetime achievement and it's almost never given to an actor that has succeeded in BOTH television and film despite the fact that the Golden Globes honors both.
