As the title says, I watched the film for the first time today (super past due I know) and the jokes are so blunt and so deadpan that I honestly feel like many of these jokes would be seen as risky for movie studios to place in a movie now.
Casual living mentions of face sitting, and the benefits of properly performed abortions blew me away for a movie of it's time. I always knew that it had a strong tie in with all the people from the old classic SNL however I never realized how brazen the comedy really was. It has left me feeling like our contemporary comedy is almost prudish compared to theirs and relies heavily on dark and sarcastic style humors while skirting many topics that movies like Airplane we'll throw right in your face. I am just thinking in text at this point, what do you guys think?
